SKU: 14561 Categorieën: , ,

A practice-based study of Early Iron Age Hallstatt C elite burials in the Low Countries

In the Netherlands and Belgium several chieftain or princely burials have been found dating to the Early Iron Age (800-500 BC). When considering the grave goods they are comparable to the chieftain burials from the Hallstatt Culture from Central Europe. The elite was buried in these graves with bronze objects, weaponry, wagons and horse-gear. Indepth research however, shows that these burials are also embedded in the local funerary practices. The results of this research are published in this volume.

An extensive overview of the burials in the Netherlands and Belgium is available in the catalogue published seperately.

Papers on Archaeology of the Leiden Museum of Antiquities (PALMA) is a series of monographs by the National Museum of Antiquities in Leiden (Netherlands).
