Academic background and special fields of interest

Jasper de Bruin (b. 1976) studied Archaeology of the Roman Period at the University of Amsterdam and completed a PhD in Roman Archaeology at Leiden University. From 2006 to 2020, he was a lecturer and researcher at Leiden University. At that time he initiated excavations in Naaldwijk, Oegstgeest and Leiden and was nominated twice for the education prize of Leiden University. In 2019, Jasper de Bruin started as curator of the collection of The Netherlands in the Roman period at the Rijksmuseum van Oudheden. The focus of his research is on the Roman limes, the Roman villa landscape in Limburg and the unlocking of texts on Roman wooden wax tablets from the Netherlands.
