Forum for conservators, curators and researchers

The Dutch National Museum of Antiquities is delighted to host the Seventh Papyrus Curatorial and Conservation Meeting. The two-day symposium is open to museum professionals and scholars working with papyrus collections. It provides a unique forum for conservators, curators and researchers to meet and discuss the challenges they face around access, preservation and research of papyrus collections.

Talk on Wednessday 5 June 2024

On Wednesday 5 June 2024 Dr. Grzergorz Nehring will give a talk in the Leemans Hall in the Rijksmuseum van Oudheden. Title of the talk: Written Artefacts Profiling within the CSMC Mobile Lab.

The talk is open for all who are interested and will start at 15:00. After the talk there will be enough time for discussion and to see some of the mobile equipment from the lab. The end of the meeting is around 16:30.

About Greg Nehring

Greg Nehring completed an MA programme in art conservation at Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun, Poland in 2019. Subsequently, while working on his PhD in the archaeometric analysis of historic manuscripts, he was employed as a research assistant at Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung (BAM) in Berlin. He received his doctorate in Archaeometry in 2023. Since 2023, he has been a Research Associate at Universität Hamburg’s Centre for the Study of Manuscript Cultures (CSMC).

In addition to the lecture series, the program includes behind-the-scenes access to the conservation studio and to highlights from the papyrus collections of the museum and the University of Leiden:
