From prehistoric times up to and including the Middle Ages

In the National Museum of Antiquities, you will become acquainted with several ancient civilisations: those of Egypt, the Classical World, and the ancient Near East, and the Netherlands in prehistoric times, the Roman era, and the Middle Ages. The new ‘highlights audio guide’ will help you to explore the 24 most remarkable exhibits in our collection. The tour starts at the largest highlight in the museum – an authentic temple from Taffeh, Egypt, and will take you to see many other items, from the giant swords from the Netherlands in prehistoric times to the statue of the Roman emperor Trajan. You can locate the Highlights by following the symbol in the audio guide as you move around the museum, using the accompanying floor plan.

Available free of charge from the desk

The audio tour leads through all the museum’s permanent exhibitions and takes about 45 minutes.
