Mummie anoniem

Egypte en Nubië

wade ; kruisbanden ; onbekende Mummy of an adult, wrapped in a shroud of pale red linen (medium-fine tabby weave, about 14 x 27 threads/cm2). The shroud has been folded back over the head and feet; a gap over the centre of the back shows horizontal bandages of fine linen underneath. The shroud has a water stain over the forehead and some minor damage around the neck. It is fixed in position by a number of straps of natural linen, 1.5-2.0 cm wide with the edges folded double. All straps occur in pairs: three longitudinal bands over the centre of the front and along the sides; nine transverse straps around the forehead, shoulders, chest, waist, hips, thighs, knees, lower legs, and insteps; plus a stola crossed over the chest. These straps have been knotted at the back.
