Meer dan 140.000 voorwerpen uit de collectie van het Rijksmuseum van Oudheden kunt u online bekijken via deze zoekpagina. De database wordt maandelijks uitgebreid en omvat objecten uit alle verzamelgebieden van het museum: het oude Egypte, de Klassieke wereld (Grieken, Romeinen en Etrusken), het oude Nabije Oosten en het vroege Nederland (tot 1500). Veel voorwerpen uit de database staan niet in het museum opgesteld. Dat kan verschillende oorzaken hebben: veel objecten worden bewaard in het depot, en sommige zijn uitgeleend aan andere musea of voor studie-doeleinden uit de opstelling gehaald.

Ta(net)charoe of Tadis ; windsels Mummy of an adult, remarkable by its restricted width. The pale linen bandages are made of a medium-fine warp-faced tabby weave (11 x 23 threads/cm2). The exterior layer over the torso and legs is applied spirally; this consists of bandages with torn edges, about 15 cm wide. The head is also covered by concentric bandages, but narrower (about 7.5 cm wide). There is a dark discoloration over the top and rear of the head, and some damage over the nose. Two wide bandages pass over the shoulders on each side of the head; these must have been applied crosswise, and there are more bandages in diagonal position showing between gaps of the outer layer over the chest and thighs. On the back the linen is darker and much decayed, so that the original disposition can no longer be observed; however, the majority of the bandages seem to run in transverse direction.

kat; mummie Cat mummy with cylindrical body and naturalistic head. The animal's body is slightly flaring out from the neck to the caudal end. It.has been wrapped in a rectangular sheet of medium-fine linen (warp-faced tabby weave, about 11 x 24 threads/cm2), which displays three self bands. The linen is now much decayed and the interior layers of wrappings are visible through the holes: another sheet of finer linen covering the body, fixed by means of two straps (width 4 cm, one with three self bands) crossing over the ventral side. This interior sheet appears to have been wrapped several times around the body, in view of the multiple overlapping edges at the caudal end. At the same end, the interior bandages have been secured by means of numerous rough stitches. The body has now been wrapped in a piece of fine gauze during a modern restoration. Around the neck of the animal, there are three windings of a strip of linen having a conspicuous rolled seam down the centre. The head is covered by irregular bandages crossing over the occiput (fine warp-faced tabby weave, about 15 x 42 threads/cm2), with two triangular ears of folded linen protruding from the interstices. The frontal aspect shows the features modelled in relief (especially a ridge-shaped nose), then covered by a piece of rather coarse linen (about 7 x 26 threads/cm2) which is now much decayed.
