Pieter ter Keurs (1956) was educated as a cultural anthropologist at the University of Leiden and wrote his dissertation on a theoretical study of material culture. Before that, he worked as a curator at the Museum Volkenkunde, where his responsibilities included cooperation with Indonesia. He has been working at the National Museum of Antiquities since March 2009. Ter Keurs is also a special professor at the Institute of Cultural Anthropology and Development Sociology at the University of Leiden. Apart from theoretical research, he is interested in critical analyses of collecting and museums (and their history).
